Access to Excellence

In early 2007 the CSU engaged in a strategic plan update called “Access to Excellence.”   These plans provide guidance to the Board of Trustees of the CSU, and for this reason it is important to the Orfalea College and to Cal Poly that the Propositions and Actions that are included in the CSU-wide document are consistent with our mission and vision.

Faculty leaders assembled small study groups of faculty, staff, and students to explore issues critical to our college within each of the strategic planning domains.  The results of those study group discussions are reproduced here.

The second phase of the university-level process is across-college discussions.  These discussions will take place the week beginning February 19.  There will be a University-wide Meeting on February 27, 2007, after which our Cal Poly report will be submitted to the Chancellor.

We are a unique member of a 23 campus university system.  It is important that strategic plan that emerges includes issues that are important to the positive development of Cal Poly, and avoids issues that drive us toward a least common denominator of the system.
